Have I told you that one of my favorite colors for eye makeup is purple? Yes, girl, yes. I actually wore a purple smoky eye on my wedding day. My makeup artist was surprised that one of her brides wasn’t afraid of color.
To be fair, I’m much more comfortable with bold eyes than I am with lips #teamnudelipsforlife.
Purple is one of those colors that looks gorgeous on all eye colors and skin tones. It makes green eyes pop (they’re complementary colors on the color wheel). And, purple eyeshadow on brown eyes is a drop dead gorgeous backdrop.
The first time I saw purple eye makeup on olive skin was on Katie Holmes in a Seventeen magazine when I was in high school. (Any Dawson’s Creek fans here?) It was love at first sight. While my skin isn’t olive, it is on the tan side, and purple looks ahhmazing on darker skin with warm undertones.

The shade Meditation looks like a soft brown in the pan, but it is the prettiest and most subtle shade of amethyst ever. I used it as the base color for this look with this palette, but I wish this palette had one true neutral color to make it the only palette I pack on a weekend trip.
If you’re new to eye makeup, or aren’t too confident with it, you’ll love how forgiving Aether Beauty palettes are. They blend really really easily, and if you’re in a hurry, you can achieve a great look without being super precise.
I did not use an eye primer with this look, but if I had, the colors would have been even more vibrant. However, I wanted a softer day look that could transition into date night.
