Welcome! I’m Lisette. I’m a New Yorker at heart, Floridian by luck, proudly kicking-off my thirties.
La La Lisette began in 2012 when I packed my bags and moved South with my husband and our dog, Chip. Formerly known as La La Lisette, this blog has served to document my new life as a southern transplant, and since then this space has evolved to cover my every growing interests.
I am a web designer specializing in Blogger to WordPress migrations. When I get a chance, I use my college degree in music for free-lance singing in both concerts and religious services.
I am mom of two adorable fur-babies and I live to spoil them. When I’m not buried in web-coding or Photoshop, you can find me learning about makeup and skincare, trying out the latest HIIT craze, lifting weights, gardening, abandoning my full online shopping cart, or enjoying Italian opera.
Things I love
Espresso coffee, wine (sweet Moscato and rich reds like Bridlewood Pinot Noir), regular and blackberry mojitos, oatmeal raisin cookies, my MacBook, and my Canon Rebel T2i.
Driftwood gray and shades of sea glass are my current go-to colors. There’s something so peaceful about the ocean and surrounding myself with those colors are an instant mood booster.
I love the sea breeze, and the way sand feels super soft beneath your toes right after the ocean waves crash into you.
The soft, fluffy baby hairs behind my puppies’ ears. And the smell of puppy fri-toes :)
I met Brian, a charismatic, smart and hilarious man in 2006. We wed in Baltimore in 2009 and have enjoyed several years of wedded bliss. I was a music teacher in Baltimore for a couple of years, but then his work brought us to live in the South in June of 2012. Since then I created this online journal of sorts as a ‘hobby’ and it’s opened many doors for me that I never thought possible.
Daisy is our ankle-biter. She enjoys beating up her brother by: biting his tail and ears, pulling his tail, and doing the classic sneak-and-pounce when he’s minding his own business. She has the nastiest little growl! They definitely make us laugh every day.
I speak Spanish fluently, studied French for seven years (enough to have basic conversations), and thanks to my music education, some Italian.
I grew up in housing projects in Queens.
I was in English-as-Second-Language in my first few years of school.
I was Valedictorian for my 5th grade class. (yeah I’d laugh too)
I’d read five Fear Street books a week in high school.
I’ve sang on the stages of Carnegie Hall and New York City Opera.
I sang Christian Rock at a Catholic church for 7 years.
Honeymooned in Italy and…
…kicked ass around Italy with my college-semester knowledge of Italian.
Lover of small dogs.
I actually like “healthy” foods.
