Sorry folks, no food porn in this post. The food was delicious and the leftovers are still calling my name. I’m sure I’m not the only one who would like to forget how much food they ate this weekend. Let’s sweep that under the rug, shall we?
We hosted this holiday with my in-laws and, true to form, it’s always enjoyable when the H’s are around (I’m so blessed to say that!). I did go shopping on Black Friday for the perfect and elusive Christmas tree. It’s not a “real” tree (B is allergic to them and I’d feel waves of self-loathing for chopping down a tree) but it’s a perfectly beautiful tree. I’ll share pictures later this week.
On Saturday ended up going to Sunbury Crab Company south of Savannah. They have delicious, fresh crabs and shrimp caught right off their dock, and their fish are caught from the fishing boats below. But what I REALLY like about that restaurant is their “backyard.” When B said he wanted to take his parents there, I grabbed my camera because the scenery is just to die for! Tell me you don’t agree..the views are just spectacular!
After we had our fill of shrimp, we headed to another throne of gluttony: All Things Chocolate in Richmond Hill. Seriously, I’m not even a chocolate person and I just had to come back for more sweets. If you’re ever in the Savannah area, this place is well worth the drive. Try the Hot Mess: potato chips, pretzels, caramel and sea salt. You’ll never see those ingredients in the same light ever again!
I’m thankful for this Thanksgiving weekend. It marked the end of a really hard November. B was traveling so much for work that he was only home literally for a handful of days. He and I were almost completely unplugged for these few days and it was a welcome and blessed change. It just made me realize that we haven’t truly enjoyed each other’s company distraction-free in a long time.
But it’s now officially December, and my favorite time of the year…the Christmas holiday.
And that is truly something to be thankful for.
How about you?
