This, my friends, was the glorious drive down to Botany Bay Plantation in Edisto Island, South Carolina. The trees in the South are truly beautiful. They tend to reach across the road and hold hands, creating the most gorgeous canopy I’ve ever seen. While I love the North, you can’t find such a spectacle…not with the Spanish moss hanging down. Dreamy!
I’ve been holding onto these pictures to share with you at the perfect time: summer, and after I got my MacBook. Mainly because, duh, it’s summer and it’s the perfect time to go see all of these gorgeous trees, but also because my MacBook is capable of processing these RAW files in Photoshop without conking out on me. Apple FTW!
When friends invited us to spend a few days in Edisto, I immediately searched what there was to do and I fell in love with the strange tree “cemetery” still holding on despite the salty ocean tides. We arrived at high tide, and at one point I had to climb onto a tree to avoid the wave. I still got drenched, in case you were wondering. With splinters to boot.
After we got our fill of what this gorgeous natural wonder had to offer, we made our way back to the car. You pass the Salt Marsh on your way back. Again, unbelieveable colors.

YES! I love it there. My husband is a fisheries biologist and does fish releases in Botany Bay!

First of all, I’m totally digging these pictures and it makes me want to be there, like RIGHT NOW! haha. Second of all, I’m curious if I guess what “FTW” means….is it “for the win”???
I am terrible at those but I halfway think I could be right on this one??
Lisette says
You should totally go! It’s a quiet beach town without crazy teens running around.
Yeah I just learned what FTW meant: for the win. Haha. You were right!
Love the new blog name!

Edisto Island is so gorgeous. I can’t ever get over it. Your photos are stunning. Having grown up going to South Carolina beaches and islands, I love them all, but Edisto was always so intriguing to me.

If you like Edisto, Jekyll Island and St. Simon’s are also really beautiful (if you haven’t already been there). And not living in the Deep South makes me miss Spanish Moss. Trees just aren’t the same without it.

I’ve read about it and we thought about visiting there a few years ago….I think maybe we should put it back on our list. Gorgeous photos Lisette!

Botany Bay is definitely on my must visit list. In fact I was recently looking for a print of it for my ‘places I want to go’ wall and couldn’t find one I loved … any chance you’d be willing to sell a print of that third image down from the top?? :^)

I grew up near Edisto (Beaufort, between Charleston and Savannah specifically) and never really thought about how beautiful it was until I left. We just had our wedding there a monthish ago and all our out of town friends and relatives were just blown away by how beautiful it is. I love being near the mountains (Greenville) but nothing beats the beauty of the Lowcountry.

Omg this looks SO SO BEAUTIFUL!
I have recently been on a road trip through Louisiana, Alabama and all these lovely states (for the first time) and I am just in LOVE with Spanish moss. I took a million pictures of every tree out there and I seriously wanted to take it home with me!
South Carolina is next on my list after seeing these pictures!

My family and I have had the opportunity to stay at a friends condo during the off season for several years. We have enjoyed it so. We have shells as a great memory. Now I am redoing my bedroom and would love to get some prints to hang on my walls. Are your photo for sell?
