In December we got to visit Edisto Island in South Carolina with friends. Edisto is a beautiful and quaint sleepy beach town. It started raining almost immediately after we arrived so I was not able to get many pictures.
We even got to “meet” a beach bum!
Then B spotted this jetty. A loooong jetty. And he climbed up and walked on it. And continued walking. Then he asked me to join him. I was scared out of my mind. Not only was I afraid of falling and breaking my teeth (clearly I have a vivid imagination) but I was also afraid of either breaking or ruining my DSLR in the ocean. It was extremely tricky walking on these rocks.
But at the end I found a nice surprise.
The prettiest barnacles ever. Who would have thought barnacles were pretty?
And then as I was walking on the treacherous jetty back to the beach, I spotted a lady with not one, not two, not three, but FIVE dogs.
Two were golden retriever puppies training to be hunting dogs.
Right off the bat we knew who was the ham of the group.
Be still my beating heart!
Look at those eyes!
The other dogs were only interested in playing fetch. I played with them. But before my hands became completely useless due to dog slobber, I got a shot of this pretty girl. She was deaf, but had the most striking eyes. One blue eye and one brown.
I just realized this post is more about cute dogs than Edisto. Forgive me? I’ll finish sharing the amazing pictures I snapped at the end of the trip.
Have you been to Edisto Island?

It looks absolutely beautiful, and you are right, even the barnacles!

I love Edisto but I’ve only ever been in the summer. I bet it’s lovely this time of year!

There weren’t many people, that’s for sure. Besides the rain, it was gorgeous!

Wow, love the photos! They are seriously making me ready for summer. And it’s going to be 80 degrees here today. So that makes me even more happy! Love that picture of the barnacles. I think I’m totally ready for a beach trip.

Aww! I wasn’t expecting puppies in this post, but what a nice surprise. :) And I never thought barnacles could be pretty, either, but those sure are!
