Remember when we were told not to sit too close to the TV or else we’d go blind? If they only knew! Now, we spend most of our work hours in front of a computer. When we’re not working, we spend hours with a smartphone inches from our face. Not surprisingly, our eyes get tired looking at screens all day long. Today, I’m excited to share with you a fashionable piece of tech gear that addresses digital eyestrain!
Phonetic Eyewear introduces the latest innovation to prevent eye fatigue from electronic devices while still looking office-appropriate: fashionable glasses that absorb and reflect blue light. LED computer screens, smartphones, tablets, and CFL lights emit high energy blue light that can cause eyestrain, headaches and fatigue. With our modern lifestyles, it’s hard to escape this lighting. Phonetic Eyewear offers chic, protective eye wear in both prescription and non-prescription glasses.
What is it like wearing Phonetic Eyewear?
When I first learned about Phonetic, I wondered how they were beneficial. I honestly did not know how strained my eyes were due to blue light until I slipped on a pair. What I immediately noticed was that the lens have a very slight yellow tint yet they reflect blue light, which is why you see the blue reflecting as I’m wearing them.
If you have an iPhone, wearing the glasses is similar to turning on the “night shift” mode. The colors are a little warmer, but this slight change is immensely easier on the eyes. I find that it is a lot easier to work on blog and design-related things throughout the day. The only times I need to remove them are when I need to work with colors for graphic design, but even then, it’s such a small percentage of my screen time that it’s practically negligible. When I’m not in front of the computer, I forget I’m even wearing them. They are that lightweight!
One of the very first things I noticed when I slip on my Phonetic glasses is my face relaxing. I was not even aware that my facial muscles were tense without them! I was slightly squinting, and my eyebrows were furrowed. Guys, a tense face for hours at a time causes wrinkles! So, even though these aren’t marketed as wrinkle-preventers, I am definitely going to wear them during business hours to prevent the tension accompanied from eye strain. #win
Phonetic Frames are Comfortable
As a person who wore prescription glasses for over a decade, I was hesitant to slip on another pair since the weight of glasses often gave me headaches. I’ve been using my Phonetic Eyewear glasses for over a week now and I’m happy to report that they are super lightweight and I haven’t experienced any discomfort whatsoever. The lenses are thinner and lighter than typical prescription lenses, and have a hard coating to prevent scratches. I always loved the look of wearing glasses and am quite pleased that these are gorgeous.
When I attended BlogHer17 this summer, I was immediately drawn to Phonetic Eyewear. When I was at their booth, I was able to see all of their inventory and fell in love! They had dozens upon dozens of gorgeous frames. I tried on several pairs and liked the AJ in tortoise the most, closely followed by the Shana.
