Do you have a beach bag ready to go? If not, here are a few must-haves this summer, including a beach read.
This weekend I planned to go to the beach. But with the crazy weather in Florida recently, I played it safe and went to the pool. However, what didn’t change was what I packed in my beach bag.
What’s in My Beach Bag this Summer
Sunscreen + After-Sun Care
First things first. Sun protection is a MUST. Make sure you always have mineral sunscreen in your bag. By now we know that mineral sunscreens are safer for your health.
And, for when your skin feels dry after laying in the sun, a high-quality aloe gel that smells like vacation is perfect!
Woven Sun Hat
Going along with sun protection, I like to have a sun hat with me by the water. The main purpose of the hat is for more sun protection for your face. But you have to admit, not only do they look chic, but they also help keep your hair in place.
Good Beach Read
Beach and pool days are the PERFECT times to catch up with bestselling books. I recently picked up a fun beach read, The Summer of Sunshine & Margot, which just so happens to be written by #1 New York Times bestselling author, Susan Mallery.
The Summer of Sunshine and Margot tells the story of two sisters who come from a long line of women with no luck in the love department. Susan Mallery weaves family drama, humor, and romance into the must-read book of the summer.
I’m a sucker for romance, especially those with humor, great plots, and family drama. Be sure to find it on Amazon! I love paper books as well as digital books, so if you pick up copy of The Summer of Sunshine & Margot for Kindle, you’re gonna need the next item in your summer bag.
Power Bank
If you’re a digital reader, be sure to pack a power bank into your summer bag. Most ebook readers’ charge lasts a long time, but if you’re burning through those pages, make sure you have one just in case!
When I’m not nose deep into my summer read, I like to listen to music or catch up on Instagram. Unfortunately, this eats up my phone’s charge. Having a phone bank helps me stay connected on the go.
Simple Summer Makeup
With the heat of summer, I don’t always want to wear heavy makeup. But I like to have a way to freshen my complexion.
I make sure I have at least a good moisturizer with SPF 20 to protect my complexion. I also like to give my cheeks some color with cream blush, since you don’t need a brush. And lastly, a nice tinted lip moisturizer is nice after sun bathing, but you could use the cream blusher in a pinch.
