Becoming homeowners (and immediately hosting Thanksgiving within three weeks later) has been extremely stressful. I DO NOT recommend anyone being as zealous as we were. Unless, of course, you like feeling more stressed than a lobster in a pot of boiling water. It’s just not my thing. However, there is one plus to frantically cleaning and preparing 3,560 sq. feet…
…it makes decorating for Christmas all the merrier. I’ve gotten a head start on homemaking and there aren’t a million boxes to trip over and give me anxiety. (Don’t be fooled, though, as I will probably still have sealed, packed boxes in five years).
I love decorating the outside of the house in classic colors of traditional red and green. There’s a reason poinsettias are the flowers of choice for the season, right? But for the inside, I prefer whites, creams, and metallics.

Wanna know what I’m most excited about decorating besides our tree? I’ve never had a mantel before! Growing up in the ‘hood doesn’t really afford you a nice fireplace. I had to really use my imagination as a kid when I wondered how Santa Claus got into our apartment.
The holidays are right around the corner, and I can’t wait to get started on this mantel! Kmart is prepared to help me deck the halls and I’m planning on taking full advantage of their .
In curating pieces for a gorgeous mantel to go along with my white and gold tree, I came across these items at Kmart:

+ Sandra by Sandra Lee Gilded Gatherings Amaryllis Garland has 6 feet of gorgeous, lush greens and beautiful cream amaryllis flowers. It is sure to brighten up your mantel and provide the perfect backdrop for the rest of your mantel decorations.
+ 24″ Sandra by Sandra Lee Gilded Gatherings Amaryllis wreath would look beautiful against a metallic mirror. It already matches the garland perfectly so it’s the perfect solution for me.
+ Sandra by Sandra Lee Merry Holiday Standing Bristle Brush Deer. Such a cute little deer is glam enough to hang with this gold décor!
+ LED Flameless candles – I love the warm glow of candles but I’m afraid of nearby sparkly things catching fire. These are perfect for the mantel.
