Yay! My October Boxycharm arrived a little over a week ago and I was so excited to see what I got! I knew to expect one of two Becca illuminators with this box and a highly-coveted Dr. Brandt skincare product. Dive in to see what I got!
BoxyCharm October Spellbound Box Review
[show_shopthepost_widget id=”2863219″]1. Dr. Brandt Poredermabrasion Pore Perfecting Exfoliator – Pore-perfecting technology at your fingertips, with a professional-grade micro-crystal solution, that instantly deep-cleans and refines pores.
I have to admit that this is the item that I was most excited to try. Clogged pores are the bane of my existence. My nose, chin and jawline are my usual trouble areas when it comes to clogged pores. Dr. Brandt’s Poredermabrasion had its work cut out.
Per the instructions I dampened my face, applied the product, and gently massaged for two minutes. The minty scent was therapeutic, and the scrub felt gentle against my skin. When I rinsed my skin, it was the smoothest it has been a very long time! There was a slight balmy residue left behind, akin to a light coconut oil balm cleanser I use, but I left it on overnight and my skin did not break out. I will definitely be purchasing this when I run out, but with the generous full-size bottle I don’t think I will need to restock for quite some time!
2. BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter – Creamy highlighter powder that lights up features with a high-shine finish.
I really hoped that I would get the liquid version of this highlighter, since I already have another barely used Becca powder highlighter. I surprisingly liked this more than the famous Champagne Pop.
I need a different brush to apply this, though, because my fan brush doesn’t do a good job of picking up the product and I feel like it just scatters it everywhere. Can anyone recommend a a good brush? Or maybe tell me how to apply this stuff because I end up looking like a sad disco ball with how my brush applies this, haha.
3. Tarte Tartist Quick Dry Matte Lip Paint – A full coverage, transfer-proof liquid lipstick with a quick-dry matte finish.
In my September BoxyCharm box I received a satin lippie and I LOVED it. This Tarte lippie is of extremely high quality and highly pigmented. Despite it being a matte formula, I felt it was very hydrating. However, I found the color a little too bright for my liking. I’m a nude / gloss girl and I find it hard to go outside of my comfort zone. This pinky hue should work for me so maybe I should try getting used to it.
4. ncLA “Nailed It” Tool Kit (similar) – A five piece set to freshens your manicure on the go.
How many times are you out and about and then feel a painful hangnail? That happens to me all the time. I like that the little kit has a zipper to keep all things nice and contained while it jostles around in my purse. I probably don’t need any of the cuticle tools when I’m out, so I may swap them with tweezers. I’ve never heard of the brand, but I linked to a similar kit at Sephora.
5. Jonteblu Lip Liner Pencil (similar) – A creamy, highly pigmented formula that can be used for lip contouring or as a long-lasting base for any lip color.
I have never heard of this brand but I was impressed with the quality of the pencil. It glided on almost as smoothly as my Urban Decay 24/7 pencils. However, this was the only piece I wasn’t crazy about due to the extremely dark shade. It is darker than most eyebrow pencils I own, so maybe it would work for a vampy Halloween look but I don’t see myself using it.
