Have you ever heard of a keratin lash lift and tint? If, like me, lash extensions don’t fit your lifestyle, a keratin lash lift + tint may be just what the doctor ordered. Today I take you behind the scenes of my experience at the luxurious LASH Jax Studio at Jacksonville Beach.

Why LASH Jax?
Tammy Barr, the owner of the LASH Jax studio and boutique shop, is the “Governor of Gorgeous.” A veteran of the hospitality industry for many years, Tammy is a firm believer of giving clients a luxurious experience and knows first hand how to make you happy and comfortable. Don’t be surprised if the Governor of Gorgeous pops open a bottle of bubbly at your first visit!

I got the chance to speak with Tammy about LASH Jax for a few minutes before my lash lift + tint. She is meticulous with details, and the gorgeous spa took 12 months to perfect, from construction plans to protocols. After seeing the sad results of unsafe lash extension jobs (some even using unsafe glue for hair extensions not intended for the delicate eye area!) she realized that Jacksonville needed a specialized lash boutique.
The atmosphere at LASH is unique in the very best way! As a LASH Jax Club Member, you receive priority on waiting lists, 10% off services and retail items, and best of all every visit begins with a glass of bubbly upon arrival! I loved that even though the place is GORGEOUS and the very definition of luxury, Tammy and her team of aestheticians were approachable in addition to professional.

LASH Jax offers more than just lash extensions and tint + lifts. The trained aestheticians also offer facials (read all about Blakely’s experience), brow tints, eyebrow microblading, massages, and waxing! Of note is the Sun Kissed facial that addresses discoloration and dark spots caused by the Florida sun, hormones and acne scars. LASH carries top quality skin products and uses them in their facials, so you can trust your skin is receiving the very best care!

LASH Jax also has a cute shop with lots of cute jewelry, beach coverups and skincare.
My First Keratin Lash Lift and Tint Experience
I’ve only recently started using false lashes and I LOVE them! My natural lashes have always been long, but as I’ve started getting older, their density isn’t what it used to be. Since I rub my eyes a lot, I’m not sure lash extensions are for me, but I still was interested in seeing what LASH Jax could offer for someone like me. (Hello face-plant sleeper and lover of showers!) I had only heard of a lash lift and tint once before, so being the curious person that I am I wanted to read up on it before I went in.

What is a Lash Lift?
A lash lift is like a perm for your eyelashes, but without the harsh chemicals, parabens, or formaldehyde. It uplifts and curls them from the base of the lash line, making them stand out and look longer. It’s often paired with an eyelash tint, to enhance the defining effect. When finished, your eyes look larger, your lashes look longer and fuller, and your entire face looks uplifted.
What is a Lash Tint?
Eyelash tinting is a simple cosmetic procedure that provides the darkening effect of mascara permanently. In this procedure, a dye is applied to the upper lashes, a process that can last 15 to 30 minutes. The dye is rinsed and washed with mild soap half an hour after application. Because your eyes are sensitive, eyelash tinting should be done by a qualified professional in a salon to ensure proper eye protection.

What is a Keratin Lash Lift and Tint?
After the lash lift and lash tint (above) are done, the last step in this procedure is a keratin strengthening treatment for your lashes. Because the term “keratin treatment” is sometimes used to describe the harsh Brazilian hair straightening treatment that contains formaldehyde, I was initially concerned. After looking at the ingredient list on the packaging, I was at ease. If, like me, you like being an informed consumer, here is the ingredient list:
Water, keratin, collagen extract, elastin, silk protein, amino acid, raw vitamin B, liquid biotin, coconut oil. vitamin B6, zinc, folic acid.
After this, I felt ready to move forward!
My Experience

Brooke led me back to the ultra comfy beds, and Tammy tucked me in under the covers! ::heart eyes emoji::
The first step was removing any traces of eye makeup from my eyes. I only had some concealer around my eyes, but Brooke gently removed it so that we could begin.

The first step was the lash lift. Brooke taped down my bottom lashes (the bottom lashes are not treated in this procedure) and then prepared my top lashes. This involved careful brushing, detangling, and separation of the lashes so that the lifting solution had an easy time of setting them.
She slowly applied the lash lifting (perming) solution with a brush, making sure none of the solution touched my skin. The perming solution smelled a little funny, but nothing unbearable like hair dye. I can’t remember how long the solution stayed on my lashes, but it didn’t feel like it was very long.
The next step was removing the lift solution. I didn’t have to get up. Brooke brushed it off right there, and I wasn’t the wiser.
After that, Brooke applied the tint. This did not smell at all, but it felt like the longest part of the process. Maybe 20-25 minutes? This depends on your natural lash color and the desired darkness. Since my lashes are pretty black (but invisible at the very tips) I didn’t need multiple steps.
After Brooke removed the tint, she then applied the keratin treatment. Of all the steps, this was the one that smelled the best :).
From start to finish, my procedure took about 55 minutes. I almost dozed off at one point since it was so relaxing. I was very pleased with how they looked at the end, and I was told that as the days went by, they would fan out on their own. The next day I jetsetted for Arizona and they were right! My lashes looked gorgeous and feathery and I couldn’t stop staring at them!
If you’re in the Jacksonville area and are looking for a place to pamper yourself, look no further than LASH Jax and tell them Lisette sent you!
