Cryoskin is a painless non-invasive way to reduce stubborn body fat, by freezing fat cells away, while also tightening the skin and promoting collagen growth. Here are my results of upper arm fat reduction after two Cryoslimming treatments.
I exercise. I try to eat as healthy as possible. (Most recently cutting out dairy for clearer skin). But despite learning to respect and be kind to my body, there are still areas I am unhappy with. Mainly, areas with stubborn fat.
Since I was a child, even before puberty, I’ve had pockets of fat that made me self-conscious. I remember I threw away a school picture in elementary school because I was upset with my lower belly fat. I was only 10 years old.
As I grew older, I noticed that my upper arms looked bigger than that of my peers. I had a large pocket of fat right below my shoulders, around my triceps and rear deltoids. This fat pocket made fitting into sleeves very challenging.
In other words, I had the batwings of a 60-year-old as a pre-teen. Lucky me.
I needed to go up a size in blouses, jackets, coats, and sometimes dresses so that my arms could fit sleeves. However, my waist was left swimming in extra fabric. My choices were spending money on a
I couldn’t believe that a non-invasive treatment could actually reduce body fat without anesthesia, stitches, and discomfort. Were they selling us snake oil? Possibly.
I wasn’t sure this was legit, but since I’ve been plagued by this insecurity since I was 10 years old, I figured I had nothing to lose. After all, it wasn’t invasive like liposuction. I thought I’d go through the process to find out and share my results. But before I do, let’s talk about what the heck is Cryoskin.
What is Cryoskin therapy?
Cryoskin is a non-invasive treatment used for “slimming, cellulite reduction, toning, and pain.” It’s is a new way to target stubborn fat without surgery or potential deformities of other fat reduction methods.
When I first heard of Cryoskin, I immediately thought of the Real Housewives of Orange County where Tamra and the other housewives walk into cryo chambers and basically freeze to death for 2 minutes. Totally not the case.
The Cryoskin treatments I received were not in a cryo chamber. I was laying down on a bed, and the technician used a handheld wand attached to the Cryoskin machine that administered both heat and cold therapy.
How does Cryoskin work?
Cryoskin is administered in a massage technique and it has three parts. We start with a heated massage to loosen up the fat cells. Then the temperature decreases to -8° C to destroy the fat cells. Lastly, you finish off with another heated massage to help eliminate the fat cells. The dead fat cells travel to your lymphatic drainage system to be flushed out of your body. This process mimics the body’s natural process of apoptosis.
the death of cells which occurs as a normal and controlled part of an organism’s growth or development.
When you have an invasive procedure like liposuction, you are under anesthesia and your doctor can remove a lot of fat. With Cryoskin, since you are relying on the body’s lymphatic system for natural detoxification, your technician does not destroy as many fat cells.
When I asked “Why not?” she told me that you could feel like you’re coming down with the flu if your body’s lymphatic system is overloaded. So this means you’ll need several sessions, spaced two weeks apart, to allow your body to flush out the fat cells without getting overwhelmed.
Unlike CoolSculpting (which is its own brand of slimming technology), your fat isn’t squeezed between two paddles. Instead, a wand glides over the exact trouble areas, giving you and your tech 100% control in targeting the stubborn fat.
oes Cryoskin therapy feel like?
The first heating portion feels like a very nice warm stone massage. The cold portion, when fat cells are killed, can get progressively more uncomfortable as temperatures decrease. However, it is much more comfortable than an ice cube gliding over your skin.
I know it’s hard to believe since Cryoskin is subjecting your fat to a lower temperature than an ice cube. But since you have a heating period before and after, it’s 100% tolerable.
After my second session, I felt my triceps feel super tight. Snatched would be a better word for it, actually. It was a good feeling! Almost like the tightness of a good workout but without the soreness.
When do you see results?
Typically you will see and feel some results after the first session, which is very encouraging. However, your results will be more apparent a week or two later. Cryoskin pamphlets say to expect results to appear 15 days to 3 weeks after your first session, and that you should see improvements for several months afterwards.
For me, I felt results overnight, as my arms felt slightly slimmer. My tech measures my arms before and after each session. The initial measurement for each arm was 16″ around the largest bulges. After my initial session, the tech measured me at 15″ on my right arm, and 14.8″ on my left.
Are the results permanent?
The effectiveness of Cryoskin depends on the individual, their lifestyle, and their diet. All that to say, you can’t expect results if you walk out of the clinic and go consume fast food.
It’s recommended you drink TONS of water to help your body flush out the fat cells. I was also told to limit carbohydrates for 4 hours after your treatments. You want to avoid any carbs from fueling your fat stores (and repairing the fat cell destruction). You best believe I avoided carbs, and also made sure to get my workouts in.
I did not want to jeopardize any fat burning whatsoever. So I have been drinking very little alcohol (if none at all) each week. When you consume alcohol, your body stops metabolizing body fat, so you’ll be ruining your chances of this working.
What does Cryoskin cost?
This will depend on the area you’re treating. On average, you can expect to pay something like $600 per treatment. Because I caught a pop-up event, they had a special deal, and I walked away with a custom plan. To give you an idea of the plan, it was originally 4 belly treatments and 4 love handle treatments for $1,800.
Since fitness and health is important to me, and since I’ve been exercising for over two years with no results in these areas, I felt I could justify the cost. I am genetically predisposed to hold onto fat in that area, my lower belly, and my inner thighs. I have two equally awkward pockets of fat on my inner thighs that I can’t wait to treat after my arms.
My Cryoskin results
I’ll be the first to say—I wasn’t expecting results. I had only put down a 50% deposit on my Cryoskin package because I didn’t have high hopes for it. I wanted to be able to cut my losses and discontinue the treatments if I didn’t see any significant progress.
I can FINALLY see the muscles I’ve been toning for the past two years. While I can lose fat easily from my waist, my arms have never had this much improvement despite weight-lifting, cardio, and eating well. I honestly never thought I’d ever have slim arms.
I lost 2 inches from each arm between two sessions spaced two weeks apart. So, I lost 2 inches from each arm in one calendar month. That’s HUGE. I’ve never been able to reach my fingers across my upper arms before. I’ve also never had this much room in my sleeves before.
To put that into perspective, when I started my fitness journey, I wore a size 10 in dresses and pants. I now wear a size 6 in dresses and size 4 in jeans. My size for tops did not move down significantly because of my arms not fitting through sleeves. I can’t even verbalize how happy I am writing this!
This is just after two of the four treatments I’ve booked. As of publishing this, I’ve just had my third treatment. I’ll definitely be sharing my results after I’ve had my four treatments, and reassess if I need any more.
Until then, I will be careful with carbs, sugar, and alcohol.
Would you try Cryoskin for fat loss?
