Our experience getting eye glasses from the Pearl Vision at the St. Johns Shopping Center in Jacksonville, Florida.
Recently I shared with you how I got my man-child to the eye doctor. Really, if you struggle to bring your husband to the eye doctor (or any doctor, for that matter, because who are we kidding? Men hate going to the doctor!) you should read it. Find an angle (any angle!) to get your man-child there. Our experience with Pearle Vision was fab.
During our visit at our local Pearle Vision, we learned about the Optomap digital retina exam. Try saying that five times fast. It’s a state-of-the-art exam that takes photographs of your retina so that you don’t have to endure the annoyance of getting your eyes dilated via drops. This, my friends, is how I got my man-child to the eye doctor.
It helped the doctor, the awesome Dr. Womack, diagnose Brian with astigmatism, which explains why his eye glasses never truly have what I call a “prescription,” compared to the prescriptions I had before LASIK eye surgery. I was near-sighted for many years, and so when I asked Brian if his eye strain was due to near-sightedness or far-sightedness, it makes sense that he wasn’t able to answer my question since his vision is perfect besides the astigmatism.
After his eye exam, he had a great time picking out new frames. Diana, Pearle Vision’s eyeglass specialist, was a great help in finding other frames that he would like, but ultimately Brian chose a lovely pair of Armani Exchange designer frames.
Afterwards, Diana used technology to ensure that the lenses and their prescription would align perfectly with Brian’s eyes. I wish I could share with you how goofy he looked, but he only let me take a picture of the glasses and white markers Diana put on him if I promised I wouldn’t share it on the blog.
[insert giggles here].
I’m happy to report that man-child and his new glasses are doing well. Thank you Pearle Vision for an enjoyable doctor’s appointment and a fun experience purchasing new glasses at your EyeCare Center!
