Things have been less than desirable around these parts lately.
And no, I haven’t had to rescue a dolphin, nor have I played matchmaker extraordinaire. But my life has resembled a little of each of these movies. (Ace Ventura: Pet Detective and Hitch, for those of you scratching your heads.)
We thought we were going to lose Daisy this past Saturday. (That’s my melodramatic self talking. Ignore her.)
Leaving her at the vet with only her collar and little bow in hand broke my heart. |
This little girl has a penchant for eating anything that crosses her path, so we still don’t know what made her so sick. She was so dehydrated from stomach issues that the vet wanted to keep her overnight for fluids and tests to the tune of $500. Half our rent money? Possible kidney failure? Diabetes with possible insulin for the rest of her life? Doc, you’re killing me.If you are a pet parent, you know how devastating this would be. Thankfully they arranged it so she only had to be left for the day and we didn’t break the bank. She came back home all clear eyed and bushy tailed…and begging for treats. Thank God.
You may be wondering where Hitch fits into this picture. If you follow me on Instagram this is old news. You know that sinking feeling where you kinda remember doing something wrong? You’re not exactly sure what you did, but your gut tells you to think about it? Well, my sadistic gut just left me wondering and didn’t urge me to take action. Had I known THIS was gonna happen, I would have immediately washed my face one two three four five times:
Yup. Call me Hitch. Or the Elephant Woman. Either would apply.
What was it that I did wrong? I was in a rush, and in my carelessness I accidentally applied my facial moisturizer to my eyes. Yeah, apparently eyes aren’t a fan of anti-aging formulas. The slight burning feeling around 6pm Sunday night should have warned me. But no, I just slathered MORE moisturizer (like any “normal” person) instead of washing my face. The before picture was six hours after applying the moisturizer. The after picture was the morning after. Today I look better than the before picture but still not 100% better.Learn from my mistake so you don’t end up looking like this…or in the Google Search results for allergic reaction.

What a cute little dog bow! Sorry about your eyes :(

Sorry about your pup! I know how scary it is.. Malcolm had $700 of vet bills last week.
And my eyes do that when I use Kiehl’s eye cream. :)

Glad that your little girlie is doing better! It is the scariest thing ever when our furbabies get sick!

I’m so glad Daisy is okay! It is super scary when something is wrong with the furbabies and you’re not sure how serious it is. Oliver is constantly eating things off the ground (I can’t always pull it out of his mouth in time) so I totally relate.
I hope your eyes are better soon!

So glad your pup is ok. I have had a few of those scares with my pup. And I swear I probably own half a wing at my vet’s office from vet bills…but gotta take care of our babies :)

I need to get my Daisy girl a bow as well!
My pup Caper gave us a scare too, especially when the Vet suggested we might have to take him to Vancouver for a puppy MRI! Luckily he stopped shaking/trembling for now! But the cost would have been the cost of my mortgage!!! Let alone the $300 just to have him checked out…. the things we do for our fur babies!

My furbaby is named Daisy too, and I can’t imagine what I would do if something happened to her. We have pet insurance and some months I regret that $40 payment but the peace of mind is so worth it.
