I am truly blessed. Our Christmas was filled with happiness, joy, and light. And lots of food and family and friends. What more can you ask for?
The picture above was taken at roughly 1:20am Christmas morning, shortly after Christmas Eve midnight Mass, after many hours of singing. I was singing again after only six hours of sleep. But you know what? I was happy. Exhausted, wired and full of adrenaline, but overall happy. And thankful.
And, because we were too wired after midnight Mass to go to sleep, we opened gifts at 2am. It was a lovely time.
One of the greatest gifts for me is to be able to sing on Christmas. Is it taxing? Of course. Even more so when you have guests and feel guilty for leaving the house for hours at a time. But thankfully family and friends are understanding.
I’d like to leave you with a clip of me singing Mille Cherubini in Coro during the 10am Christmas morning Mass. I was tired but, running on fumes and adrenaline, the years of training and vocal technique took over. This was recorded live (on an iPhone) during Mass, so please excuse the wailing baby in the background. You may listen to it by clicking here.
Wishing you and your loved ones a bright holiday season,
