Eco-friendly products on Amazon that are environmentally conscious swaps for your everyday needs. Affordable, sustainable products that won’t break the bank.
I’ve started thinking a lot lately about my carbon footprint. A lot of our everyday products come in plastic packaging. It’s crazy to think that there will soon be more plastic in our oceans than fish. It’s a tragic, sad reality, but I believe we can all take steps to start swapping out our everyday garbage for reusable, environmentally friendly products.
A lot of these eco-friendly products have slowly made their way into our home over the past year. I credit my joining Beautycounter for a lot of the green products in our home. It has been my gateway into a more healthy lifestyle that stretches outside of fitness.
Below you’ll find a list of eco-friendly products that you can easily swap for the conventional products that won’t breakdown for decades (or more) in the landfill. Plus, since these are all reusable, you won’t have to buy as many as the plastic and non-biodegradable versions. It’s a win-win!
Eco-Friendly Products for Green + Sustainable Living
1. Reusable Beeswax Food Wrap
Say goodbye to plastic saran wrap. These reusable beeswax food wraps are a sustainable and eco-friendly alternative to single-use plastic wrap. Just wash in cool water with mild soap and air dry.
2. Compostable Plant-Based Plates
I like having disposable plates handy for those occasions when you know washing plates is too much (summer BBQs, for example). However, instead of single use plastic, these environmentally conscious compostable paper plates are made with sugar cane, making me feel better than buying single-use plastic ones.
3. Reusable Water Bottle
So, so many water bottles end up in our oceans. Save the oceans and get a reusable water bottle. In addition, you’ll also increase the water you drink because it’s such a pretty bottle.
4. Metal Straws
These reusable metal straws are a huge hit with our guests. They also make your drinks taste colder, perfect for summer. I want to invest in collapsible metal straws for on the go.
5. Reusable Grocery Bags
I freaking love these reusable grocery bags. And I always notice the store clerks looking super impressed at their quality. The only downside is having to remember to take them inside the store with you, but I’ve never once regretted these. They’re super affordable, too.
6. Reusable Makeup Remover Pads
I love reusable makeup remove pads as a substitute for cotton rounds. I still use my Beautycounter eye makeup remover to avoid too much tugging in the delicate eye area. However having washable pads makes me feel better about my carbon footprint. Plus, these bamboo reusable makeup remover pads are organic, so who can give those up?
7. Reusable Produce Bags
Every time I’ve bought produce in the past, I’ve always cringed over those single-use green plastic bags. Well, no more. These reusable produce bags are made out of mesh so you can see your produce. Best of all, they’re machine washable!
8. Reusable Food Storage Bags
We rarely ever use plastic Ziploc bags ever since buying these reusable food storage silicone bags. I like that you can easily wash them, and even sanitize them in boiling water if raw meat were stored inside.
9. Wool Dryer Balls
I have been using wool dryer balls for the past seven years. It’s only been within the past year that I’ve ditched laundry softener. With wool dryer balls you really don’t need fabric softener. Plus, these guys also reduce static and help your clothes dry faster. Win win!
10. Glass Food Storage
The only regret I have after buying this glass food storage set is not buying a second set. I love knowing that I can store and reheat food in these glass containers without worrying that toxic chemicals in plastic containers are leeching into our food.
11. Plant-Based Trash Bags
Every time I take out the trash I wonder where the hundreds of plastic trash bags I’ve disposed of in my 35 years on this Earth go. I’ve recently learned that third-world countries import developed nations’ trash and it makes me sick. These plant-based trash bags will make me feel better about my carbon footprint, since they’re made with biodegradable sugar cane instead of those made with fossil fuel.
12. Compostable Plant Based Cups
These compostable plant-based cups are a must for summer get togethers. As long as you keep them away from direct sunlight and heat, these cups are a great alternative to plastic cups.
13. Silicone Menstrual Cup
One of the best environmentally conscious products you can get? A reusable menstrual cup. The thought of endless numbers of feminine hygiene products in landfills make me sick to my stomach. Emptying this cup into the toilet makes that time of the month more hygienic. Follow the instructions on how to select a size, and you’ll be fine.
