The love I have for my two pups, Chip and Daisy, is no surprise around these parts. We don’t yet have human babies, but these dogs have no lack of affection and love. Daily walks around the neighborhood. Daily rides to the park. Daily hugs, kisses and cuddles. And endless amounts of treats. Man, they sure do live the good life!
Naturally, when BarkBox asked if we’d like to work with them, we gave them a loud and resounding WOOF! in agreement. BarkBox is a monthly subscription for dogs of all sizes. The boxes have a new, surprise theme each month and the surprise is part of the fun! You can customize the types of toys and treats you get by chatting with their team and adjust for allergies, heavy chewers, or opting for an extra toy to be added. Any dog lover knows how excited their best friend gets when they have a new toy or treat! Or, in our house, preseeeeeeeeeents! When dogs receive their BarkBoxes it becomes a sublime experience of excitement! The unveiling of the box, the play time, doing tricks for treats…these become fun memories and experiences for you to share with your pups.
Finding out what’s inside of your monthly BarkBox can become a tradition you and your dog(s) look forward to! Let’s dive in, shall we?
We received the Poo York City themed BarkBox: “the land of endless smells, fire hydrants on every corner, and of course, Bark & Co.” Personally, I was delighted that the theme of the box was my hometown. Some of its contents were very nostalgic for me and I was so happy to share these with Chip and Daisy.
How stinkin’ ADORABLE is this set of the iconic Chinese takeout box of dumplings?! I think I was more excited about Andi’s Famous Plush Dumplings ($16) than the dogs were. Well, that’s still a toss-up. I wasn’t sure if the pups would know to open the box or not, but Chip immediately ran off with the crazy-crinkly carryout carton, shaking it ferociously, the dumplings falling out as he ran. Daisy picked up the dumplings and ran off in the opposite direction to examine these plushy squeaker things on her own. This all happened so fast so I wasn’t able to document it, but they had a blast! BarkBox nailed it with this box!
The Statue of Liberty is perhaps the most iconic representation of New York City. After all, she was pictured on the license plates of all cars in my childhood. How fitting that Lady Liberty Ball (small, $8) was in this box? BarkBox says that shouting “FREEDOM” is optional when throwing this spiky squeaker ball. Its sturdy construction ensures that it stands up to the dachshund in Chip.
Last, but not least, here are the delicious TREATS BarkBox sent the pups!

Chip and Daisy were flipping out about the Best Treats Ever: Turkey & Duck Strips (4oz, $7) before I even opened the bag. The Made in the USA treat is free of grain, corn, and soy. American farmed duck and turkey makes up the first two ingredients. Each strip is large enough to split in two for extra good puppies! They might be, quite possibly, the BEST TREATS EVER!

The NYC No Grainers NYC Jerky Chews (5oz, $8) in the Roasted Duck recipe. The Made in the USA (Utah, specifically!) treat is free of grain, corn, and soy. Both dogs would eat the whole bag if allowed! I always joke that when I give them treats, it’s like the biblical “parting of the Red Sea” because each of them run off in opposite directions with their prized possession to eat in peace. This treat did not disappoint in that regard either!

Chip sniffed around inside the BarkBox and went straight for the Butcher’s Block Trachea ($3). Using only 100% quality beef from Omaha, Nebraska, Butcher’s Block selects its bones from prime beef grade cattle, slow roasts it for three days, and hand trims each delicious piece. Butcher’s Block is a brand I trust, and I frequently buy Chip and Daisy the Dynamo Beef Chew, so I was happy to see this brand in their box. The trachea will be one I’ll have to purchase an extra of so that one dog doesn’t feel left out :) BarkBox has so many high-quality chews that you can’t go wrong with any of them!

Wanna know the next best thing besides the popcorn smell of puppy feets? Tired puppies! These two pups were pooped by all the fun in their Poo York City-themed BarkBox.
BarkBox Details
- Subscription Box: Small & Cute (0 – 20 lbs)
- Cost: starts at $21/month + free shipping. There are other options as well (such as a 6-month subscription or a one-time shipment) but you get a discount for longer subscriptions. Any questions about your subscription can be answered by their awesome customer service team.
- What’s Included: Toys, treats, and chews selected for your dog based on size (choose “Small & Cute” for 0-20 pounds, “Just Right” for 20-50 pounds, and “Big & Bold” for dogs 50+ pounds).
I did the math, and the retail value of the contents in our BarkBox was over $40 plus shipping. The monthly subscription is half this amount, plus free shipping. I easily spend over $30 on treats alone on the dogs, and they don’t get new toys. I think BarkBox may make its way to our doorstep on a monthly basis.
What do you think about BarkBox? Would your pup love one?
