Working from home makes looking presentable an afterthought. Top bun, yoga pants, sports bra and deodorant are as far as I’ve done for months at a time. Recently, I’ve also begun walking the dogs as close to 7am as possible since the Florida sun heats up everything once 8am hits. That little bit of exercise makes me break out into a sweat and I’ll shower immediately afterward.
Lately, after I shower I start thinking about the sun and skin damage, and I’ll slather on some CC cream with SPF30. Which leads to me drying and styling my hair. Which leads to me adding bronzer for dimension on my face, and the next thing I know I’m also wearing eyeliner and mascara. (I’m sure my husband isn’t complaining!).
Let me tell you—I have THE WORST flip flop tan in my LIFE right now. Friends think my feet are dirty when in fact they’re just super tanned. I realized then that I had to do something about my everyday footwear.
I’ve slowly been trying to dress nicer during the week as I only dress up on the weekends for church or for special occasions. And this always means my everyday shoes are flip-flops. My inner Phi Sigma Sigma just winced admitting that! Because almost any shoe I wear gives me blisters (I blame my thin skin), I value comfort when it comes to shoes. This also makes it extremely difficult for me to find shoes that match dressy outfits. Short of wearing bandages on all of my toes and/or lining shoes with fabric, I usually go the flip flop route, which is fine for everyday in Florida but not for dressy occasions.
I remembered that wedges are a close second to flip-flops when it comes to comfort. Not only that, but wedges can be worn with almost any outfit, giving me the extra height that my 5’2″ frame needs. However, shoe shopping creates instant panic and fear in me as it’s hard to find shoes that fit me well.
Imagine my surprise when I learned that Crocs has cute shoes in addition to the clogs they’re well-known for! I am loving my A-leigh shimmer leather wedges from Crocs.com in black. It is one of the many fun shoes available in the Crocs Spring-Summer 2015 collection. I don’t feel like I’m wearing stuffy dressy shoes (which I hate) and the padding makes it feel like I’m walking on cloud 9. The leather top still means that I’ll need to pack a bandage or two in my purse to prevent blisters (darn friction), but at least these wedges are comfortable and cute!
Crocs have lots of cute summer shoes. I plan on wearing them to many occasions this summer where flip-flops are too casual: church, college graduations, family reunions, even date night out with my husband!
Tell me, how would you #FindYourFun in your Crocs? Shopping? Date night? I wanna know!
